SUBJECT: ENGLISH: POETRY

Concrete poetry is poetry which forms a structurally original visual shape. The essence of concrete poetry lies in its appearance on the page rather than in the written text; it is intended to be perceived as a written whole.

OBJECTIVE:

Students will create their own poems using selected works of arts as either models for combining visuals with writing or as selections for creating a written response or interpretation.

IMPLEMENTATION:

1. After studying the cultural, economical, agricultural, and historical aspects as well as the traditions and lore of Texas, students will create a concrete poem.

2. The outline should be filled with drawings or pictures which signify the state to the student.

RELATED ACTIVITIES:

Students may choose to write about the cultural historical and traditional aspects of his/her family.
