Curtain Call by Everett Shinn, is a theatre subject. Shinn's interest in the theatre grew out of his boyhood fascination with the circus. He often produced amateur theatricals at his studio with participation of friends and fellow artists. His academic training at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and association with Robert Henri led to his inclusion in "The eight." Shinn refined his drawing skill while employed as an illustrator, one of his first jobs. Certainly this experience contributed to the exceptional competency he achieved in pastel drawings. |
