OBJECTIVES: 1) Students will utilize a painting to explore the effects of the railroads on the U.S. in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. 2) Students will discover how art can reflect the mood and spirit of the time in which they are created. Why is the Panhandle of Texas sometimes considered the "last frontier"? ASSIGNMENT: Research other images by O'Keeffe in which she used similar techniques/similar subject matter.
