ERNEST
LAWSON
Moving in unstated
tones, Ernest Lawson interprets the American Impressionism in subdued
vistas devoid of people. Lawson, a student of the "Academie Julian"
and follower of Childe Hassam, chose whispered elements of delicacy
demonstrating Impressionism in its purest sense.
In The Pond
Lawson's color is molded onto the canvas with rich texture. His emphasis
on the stillness of nature is not disturbed by the bold application
of paint. Rather, the surface shimmers with delicate color typical of
the mood Lawson often evokes.
