TITLE: Compare and Contrast Historical Time Periods

OBJECTIVE:

Students will make comparisons and show contrasts between two similar or dissimilar art objects. Historical time periods will be indicated by style of dress and inventions.

MATERIALS:

  • Camera and Film

IMPLEMENTATION :

1.  After studying the two images above, students should describe the similarities and differences between the images in class discussion or as an assignment on paper. (Characters, setting, theme, or main idea and the possible story behind the two images may be areas for exploration.)

2. Teachers may opt to have students brainstorm adjectives, adjectival phrases, verbs, verb phrases, prepositional phrases, and other parts of speech with students prior to beginning the above activity.

RELATED ACTIVITIES:

Students may "stage" or record their own compare/contrast pictures and have classmates describe the images in terms of comparisons and contrasts.
