SUBJECT: English - Short Story In Japanese mythology, a single deity could posses the traits of good and of evil at the same time. Serpents were not necessarily evil. Deities which lived on the mountain were directly related to the ruling dynasty and could not communicate with the deities who roamed the earth. TEKS:

IMPLEMENTATION: 1. Using knowledge of classical mythology, especially the time period during the Trojan War and knowledge of super heroes, explain what is happening in the picture of the woman the serpent and the two warriors. 2. Some areas to explore might be: the position of the serpent in relation to the feminine figure and to the two male figures; the reason for the beams of light emanating from the lady; and the conflict witnessed. RELATED OR ALTERNATE ACTIVITIES: Students may create their own warrior or super heroes myth. |
