Museum School

Since its inception in 1972, the Amarillo Museum of Art has been dedicated to providing quality visual arts programming to the residents of Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle through collections, exhibitions, research, and educational programming. The Museum School is just one aspect of our long-standing commitment to arts education and to our community. Museum School classes provide opportunities for young people to grow in such diverse areas as creativity, self expression, problem-solving, visual literacy and teamwork.

Children’s Classes

Excitement is just around the corner at the Amarillo Museum. Our Museum School Programs provide children with an exciting range of classes and themes to fit any area of artistic interest. The Museum is the perfect place to learn about art and to discover the budding artist in everyone. In the Museum School, children have the opportunity to draw, paint, make sculpture, work with clay, or experiment with mixed media. Museum School students are encouraged to explore their imagination and creativity while creating their very own artistic masterpieces.

All children's classes are taught by experienced art educators who are assisted by trained Docent volunteers. Please note that Camps run Tuesday through Friday as the Museum is closed on Mondays. Enrollment fees cover all art supplies. Museum members receive a 10% discount on enrollment. Because art can be messy, children should wear old or play clothes to class.

The Museum School offers a wide variety of art activities for young artists. Please check back for information on Fall classes, which will be coming soon!"
