FOCUS:

Show students Amarillo Boot. Discuss the various items that comprise the boot. Does each item represent Amarillo?  If so, how?

RESEARCH ACTIVITY:

Assign students individually or in groups a subregion of Texas. Students should look for the following information: cities, major industries, natural resources, topography, rivers, tourist attractions, etc.

CULMINATING PROJECT:

Students will create a poster similar to the Amarillo "boot" to describe the subregion they were assigned to research. The basic shape should symbolize something that represents the subregion as a whole (i.e. a cactus for a desert region or a boat for a coastal region). The inside of the shape should have various items that represent the unique features of the subregion.
